Unfortunately, if you've had housing that was not low income and you found yourself not being able to keep up and got evicted, low income housing will not touch you with a 10 foot pole. Also you must have good credit, to qualify for low income housing and no criminal record. I think basically, low income housing is not necessarily for the low income. LOL

I know if you dial "211" from any area and discribe your issues. The operator can direct you to help . There are many shelters for woman and children that will help set up housing and foodstamps.Ask and you will be directed. Call and be very polite, the relaxed operators will give you more information. You can call as often as needed.

The Hud site does not have an authoritative list of low income housing. There are many many other apartments not located on the HUD site. Like most thing in government they are months or years behind in updating their data.
